Somatic Healing
Somatic translates to “of the body.” Somatic can also be referred to in terms of “somatic experience” where there is a physiological response within the body to everything that is experienced.
Somatic awareness is a tool for bridging the mind, body, and soul. While each system within the body can be considered separate, they work interdependently. Increasing awareness becomes an avenue for releasing pain and deepening one’s understanding and connection to self.
Somatic Therapy: Healing Body and Mind with Expert Techniques
Within therapy, increased awareness can be achieved with the integration of conscious breathing (e.g., meditation, using the breath as reference), radical resonance (connection between the self, parts, and others), mindful movement (creating space for intentional movement to be liberated with compassion and without judgment), and attuned touch (finding connection and healing through healthy, loving, and caring touch).
